Dada Hari Stepwell: The stepwell is a masterpiece in water architecture.
It is situated 17 kms. north of Ahmedabad. The stepwell at the
village of Adalaj is another fine example of this magnificent
architectural form. Adalaj Vav is richly carved, every pillar
and wall surface covered with leaves and flowers, birds and fishes
and friezes of ornamental designs. The five storeyed Octagonal
shaft - wonderful sculptures of a king seated on a stool beneath
a parasol with two bearers, gods, goddesses, dancing maidens,
musicians, birds, animals, leaves one spellbound. From the steps
of the well one can literary fell the presence of the royal ladies
peeping outside the intricalely carved Jharukhas. An ideal retreat
from the scorching heat in summers.
